What is the National Geodata Centre?

The National Geodata Centre is a facility for the collection and delivery of geoscientific information and data held in a digital format.

Initially focussing on the collation of geological data resources and their associated topographic data. The Geodata Centre will provide a platform to showcase the work of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining (Directorate of Geological Surveys) to all stakeholders.

The vision of the National Geodata Centre is to support the development of future mineral exploration and geological research, adding value to existing knowledge and data assets. It will encompass earth science research, databases and networks to deliver Kenya’s rich geological heritage, building the future on past endeavours.

The NGDC will deliver both current and legacy geological information. This will support growth and development of the minerals industry in Kenya.
